Garbe Solid Timber Hall
Straubing

What makes this project unique: In addition to the load-bearing structure and mezzanine levels, the entire façade is also made of wood—spruce for the structure and Douglas fir for the façade. Approximately 4,400 m³ of sustainably sourced timber from Bavaria and Austria contribute to a CO₂-reduced construction approach.
In Straubing-Sand, Garbe Industrial Real Estate, together with Logicenters, is developing one of Europe's largest logistics properties built entirely from timber. The new facility spans approximately 24,500 m² of hall space, 1,500 m² of mezzanine storage, and 1,100 m² of office and social areas.
Task

Sustainable Logistics:
Europe's Largest Solid Timber Hall

With the construction of its logistics hall in Straubing, Garbe Industrial Real Estate is making a bold statement for timber construction in the industry. The sustainable material defines both the load-bearing structure and the façade—one of the key factors in securing this premium location at the Straubing-Sand port.

The hall is designed following the principles of circular construction, featuring deconstructable elements for maximum reusability. A 2,000 m² green roof and a 16,500 m² photovoltaic system (2 MWp) ensure climate-friendly energy generation. LED lighting and an air-to-air heat pump make the facility entirely independent of fossil fuels.

Groundbreaking took place in July 2024, with completion scheduled for Q3 2025.
