The PANEUM Wonder Chamber of Bread
A futuristic, free-floating design
WIEHAG is involved in the construction of a particularly futuristic architectural project. Managing Director and Head of Timber Engineering, DI Alfons Brunauer, provided his internationally sought-after expertise in the field of structural analysis and construction. The "Wunderkammer des Brotes” [Wonder Chamber of Bread], a free-floating, curved timber structure with stainless steel shingles, is being constructed on a plinth building. The building has an overall height of 20 metres.
Self-supporting timber shell construction made of CLT
"A self-supporting timber shell construction made of cross-laminated timber was developed for this exhibition area on the theme of bread. This construction method allows implementation of the free form. The high degree of prefabrication results in short construction times. Since the timber elements, precisely milled using 3D CNC technology, are only glazed and remain visible on the inside, there is no need for additional interior fittings," says Brunauer, explaining the details of this extraordinary timber construction solution.
